Government Graduate College Mian Channu
Mian Channu is a town located on the Grand Trunk Road, which connects Karachi to Peshawar and is renowned for its agricultural machinery and farming throughout Pakistan. In 1964, the Municipal Committee of Mian Channu established a college to address the difficulties faced by students in obtaining further education after matriculation. Intermediate Arts classes were introduced in this college, situated near the Municipal Stadium on Tulemha Road, where national-level tournaments are held. There is a Children's Park and a Municipal Library in the southern part of the town. Starting from September 1st, Arts classes in the college were expanded to include Science and Commerce subjects. After intermediate, students had to travel to Sahiwal, Khanewal, or Multan to pursue higher education. Considering the concerns of local students, the Punjab government approved the implementation of degree classes in the college from September 1st, 1986.
The previous building was inadequate for the requirements, and additional rooms were needed. With the support of local political leadership, the organization flourished. In 1978, Abdul Sattar Idhi Block and subsequently Dr. Muhammad Shuja Naamooz Block and the college library were added, which were the result of the efforts of Ghulam Haider Wain. Further expansion took place in the form of the Pir Muhammad Sanaullah Boodleh Block, constructed by Ahmed Nadeem Boodleh in the name of his father in 2004. The Air Conditioner Multi-Purpose Iqbal Hall was inaugurated in 2011, and the college's new gate was built in 2013. The postgraduate block was added in 2018, a result of the efforts of Rana Baabar Hussain MPA.
Last year, in 2020, the Chief Minister of Punjab, Sardar Usman Buzdar, and the leader of the Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf, Peer Zahoor Hussain Qureshi MNA (Parliamentary Secretary for Water and Power), Malik Masood Akhtar Awan (Chief Whip of the Punjab Assembly and Chairman of the Chief Minister's Task Force for Agriculture and Fertilizers), Peer Syed Abbas Ali Shah MPA (Chief Whip and Parliamentary Secretary for Law), Chaudhry Jamshid Shaukat (District General Secretary, Ticket Holder Tehreek-e-Insaf), Chaudhry Wasim Shahzad (Al-Mansoor Group), and the local leadership of Tehreek-e-Insaf, with their sincere efforts, succeeded in obtaining approval for B.S. classes, which is a historical gift for this city.
The administration and the local community are very grateful for their efforts. Alhamdulillah, this year, B.S. classes in Urdu, English, Botany, and Mathematics are being initiated. The college has always achieved remarkable and enviable results. In the past years, the college students have secured the first, second, and third positions in the literary group in the intermediate examinations conducted by the Multan Board. The college has consistently performed well in educational youth festivals. The college has an excellent educational environment, which has resulted in students achieving prominent positions in boards and universities every year, reflecting the outstanding performance of the institution. In addition to academics, the institution also excels in sports. For many years, it has been the champion of athletics in Multan. A former student of this college, Abdul Rasheed Asmi, has also had the honor of representing Pakistan in the Olympic Games.
میاں چنوں ضلع خانیوال کی تحصیل ہے جو کراچی سے پشاور جانے والی شاہراہ اعظم (جی ٹی روڈ) پر واقع ہے۔ تیزی سے ابھرتا ہوا یہ خوبصورت شہر پنجاب بلکہ پورے پاکستان میں زرعی آلات اور زراعت کی وجہ سے ملک بھر میں منفرد مقام رکھتا ہے۔ ۱۹۶۴ء میں میونسپل کمیٹی میاں چنوں نے طلباء کے لیے میٹرک کے بعد مزید تعلیم کے حصول میں دشواریوں کے پیش نظر کالج قائم کیا اور انٹرمیڈیٹ آرٹس کی کلاسوں کا اجراء ہوا۔ یہ کالج تلمہ روڈ پر میونسپل اسٹیڈیم سے ملحقہ ہے جہاں پر ملکی سطح کے ٹورنامنٹ منعقد ہوتے ہیں۔ جنوب میں چلڈرن پارک اور میونسپل لائبریری ہے یکم ستمبر و ا ء سے کالج میں آرٹس کی کلاسوں کے ساتھ ساتھ سائنس اور کامرس کی تدریس بھی شروع ہوگئی تھی۔ انٹرمیڈیٹ کے بعد طلباء کومزید تعلیم حاصل کرنے کے لیے ساہیوال، خانیوال اور ملتان جانا پڑتا تھا۔ چنانچہ علاقہ کے طلباء کی پریشانیوں کو مدنظر رکھتے ہوئے حکومت پنجاب نے یکم ستمبر ۱۹۸۶ء سے کالج ہذا میں ڈگری کلاسز کے اجراء کی منظوری دی۔ سابقہ عمارت ضروریات کے لیے نا کافی تھی اور مزید کمروں کی ضرورت تھی ۔ مقامی سیاسی قیادت کی شفقت سے ادارے کو چار چاند لگتے چلے گئے ۱۹۷۸ء میں عبدالستار ایدھی بلاک اور اس کے بعد ڈاکٹر محمد شجاع ناموس بلاک اور کالج لائبریری کا اضافہ شہید غلام حیدر وائیں کی کاوشوں کا ثمر ہے۔ مزید اضافہ جناب احمد ندیم بودلہ نے ۲۰۰۴ میں اپنے والد پیر محمد ثناء اللہ بودلہ کے نام B.Sc بلاک کا سنگ بنیا درکھ کر کیا ۔۲۰۱۱ میں ائیر کنڈیشنر ملٹی پرپز اقبال ہال ۲۰۱۳ میں کالج کا نیا گیٹ اور ۲۰۱۸ میں پوسٹ گریجوایٹ بلاک جناب رانا با برحسین ایم بی اے کی کوششوں کا نتیجہ ہیں۔ گذشتہ سال 2020 میں وزیر اعلیٰ پنجاب جناب سردار عثمان بزدار صاحب اور رہنما تحریک انصاف جناب پیر ظہور حسین قریشی ایم این اے (پارلیمانی سیکرٹری پانی وبجلی)، جناب ملک مسعود اختر اعوان مشیر وزیراعلیٰ پنجاب (چیئر مین وزیراعلیٰ ٹاسک فورس ایگیری و فرٹیلائزر پنجاب ) ، جناب پیر سید عباس علی شاہ ایم پی اے (چیف وہپ و پارلیمانی سیکرٹری قانون)، جناب چوہدری جمشید شوکت صاحب ضلعی جنرل سیکرٹری ، ٹکٹ ہولڈر تحریک انصاف، جناب چوہدری وسیم شہزاد ( المنظور گروپ) اور تحریک انصاف کی مقامی قیادت کی بے لوث محنت و شفقت سے B.S کلاسز کی منظوری ہوئی جو اس شہر کے لیے تاریخی تحفہ ہے اس کے لیے ادارہ اور اہل علاقہ ان کے بہت ممنون ہیں الحمد للہ امسال بی ایس (اردو، انگلش، باٹنی اور میتھ ) کا آغاز کیا جارہا ہے۔ کالج کے نتائج ہمیشہ سے بڑے شاندار اور قابل رشک رہے ہیں گزشتہ سالوں میں کالج کے طلباء نے انٹرمیڈیٹ کے امتحانات میں ملتان بورڈ سے ادبی گروپ میں پہلی دوسری اور تیسری پوزیشنز حاصل کی ہیں۔ تعلیمی یوتھ فیسٹیول میں کالج کی نمایاں پوزیشنز آتی رہیں ہیں۔ کالج ہذا میں انتہائی بہترین تعلیمی ماحول ہے جسکی بدولت ہر سال بورڈ اور یو نیورسٹی میں طلباء نمایاں پوزیشنز حاصل کرتے ہیں اور ادارہ ہذا کی بہترین کارکردگی کا مظہر ہیں۔ تعلیم کے ساتھ ساتھ کھیلوں میں بھی ادارہ نمایاں مقام رکھتا ہے گذشتہ کئی سالوں سے ملتان میں ایتھلیٹک کا چیمپیئن ہے۔ اس کالج کا سابقہ طالب علم عبدالرشید عصمی بیجنگ اولمپک میں پاکستان کی نمائندگی کا اعزاز بھی حاصل کر چکا ہے
